What is Devin Desktop?

Devin’s official FAQ explicitly states that Devin Desktop is the new name for Windsurf, with the original IDE functionality remaining intact. The current focus is on centrally managing Spaces, Kanban boards, and multiple AI agent sessions, enabling developers to view task statuses and resume their work.

The official website describes managing different agents and models via the Agent Client Protocol, running sessions locally or on Devin Cloud, and transferring context; Fast Context is used to locate code, while Devin Review is used to review changes. Extensions, language services, and MCP tool integrations are configured according to the currently supported scope.

According to the official announcement, existing Windsurf users can migrate via a standard update, with their original settings, extensions, workflows, and existing plans preserved during the migration. Therefore, the current purchase price should be verified separately from the remaining plans in old accounts, and the task counts, test results, or parallel execution performance shown in the web examples should not be taken as guarantees of performance across all environments.
