What is v0?
v0 is designed for the workflow from requirements to a production-ready web application. You can start by describing features in a chat, or import an existing project and view code, AI-generated changes, and previews—all within the same workspace. Officially listed projects include dashboards, e-commerce platforms, SaaS applications, data visualization tools, and AI-powered apps.
The built-in editor and preview support server-side features, including API routing, database connections, and environment variables. After connecting to GitHub, changes are committed to a working branch and enter the release process via pull requests; you can also start a new project from chat without connecting to GitHub. The full preview and deployment experience is organized around Vercel projects, while the code can be exported for deployment in other environments.
Before deployment, the generated code, permissions, data flows, and runtime configurations should be reviewed. Quotas determine the usage of generation capabilities, and application deployment as well as third-party services each have their own requirements; having AI generate a page does not equate to completing production‑environment validation.
Key features
Requirement Generation: Describe interface and application functionalities using natural language.
Code iteration: Review changes across the editor, AI chat, and preview.
Full-stack preview: Supports API routing, database connections, and environment variables.
Collaborative publishing: You can import GitHub repositories, use branches and pull requests, and connect to Vercel for deployment.
Use cases and audience
Developers, designers, and product teams who need to build prototypes, marketing websites, or web applications.
- Create interactive prototypes from the requirements and continue implementing application features.
- Modify the interface on an existing codebase and collaborate on the release via pull requests.
Natural language requirements, existing projects, supported reference materials, or GitHub repositories.
The application interface, source code, a runnable preview, and the configured, published website.
How to use
- 01
Create a new conversation to describe your requirements, or import an existing project.
- 02
Review the generated code and the preview, gradually adding features and constraints.
- 03
Configure the necessary environment variables, data connections, and code repositories.
- 04
Check the changes and the execution results, and publish after confirming the permissions.
Benefits and limitations
Benefits
- Code, AI iterations, and full-stack previews are all located in the same workspace.
- You can start from an existing repository, or export the code to continue development.
Limitations
- Code generation requires review and testing and cannot directly replace production acceptance.
- The costs and limits for generating quotas, deploying services, and using external APIs are calculated separately.
Pricing and availability
Free entry available
There are message and quota limits; the free quota allocation methods differ between new accounts and existing accounts.
The officially listed collaboration plans include monthly quotas calculated per user.
The officially listed team plans; privacy, permissions, and quota conditions are detailed in the source document.
The above are the official monthly fees in USD, verified as of 2026-10-22. Premium is being phased out and is no longer available to new users; the free tier’s allowances are not all renewed on a monthly basis. Generated usage, additional allowances, and deployment costs must be checked separately.
