12 Enterprise-Grade Workflow Automation Platforms Compared: n8n, ServiceNow, Power Automate, and Others Selected

The n8n blog has published an in-depth guide comparing 12 mainstream enterprise-grade workflow automation platforms, focusing on five key dimensions: deployment models, integration capabilities, governance mechanisms, AI/agent support, and cost models. The guide underscores the core demands of technical teams regarding data sovereignty, multi-AI vendor switching, and code extensibility.

Reflection releases the open-source large model Beam: a 501B-parameter sparse MoE architecture that supports million-token contexts and multi-level inference control.

Reflection has released the open-source large language model Beam (501B parameters, with 23B effective activations per token), which employs a 256-expert sparse MoE architecture, supports 1M tokens of context, NVFP4/FP8 quantization, multi-level inference configuration, and on-premises deployment. All technical claims have not been independently verified, hardware requirements are high, and the community generally believes that individual users will find it difficult to afford.

Microsoft releases Magnetar: a universal zero-knowledge virtual machine that supports Rust, Go, and C, with quantum-safe proofs implemented using standard hash functions.

Microsoft Research has unveiled Magnetar, a zero-knowledge virtual machine that, for the first time, simultaneously addresses the three long-standing bottlenecks of zero-knowledge proofs in a single system: low generation efficiency, high development barriers, and insufficient post-quantum security. It enables programs written in mainstream languages such as Rust, Go, and others to be compiled and executed directly, with verifiable proofs generated automatically. On average, it is 10–39 times faster than the fastest existing zkVMs, with proof verification taking only about 12 milliseconds. Moreover, its security relies solely on standard hash functions like SHA‑256 and SHA‑3—NIST‑standardized algorithms that have stood the test of decades of cryptographic scrutiny—eliminating the need for trusted setups, elliptic curves, or novel mathematical assumptions that have not been thoroughly validated.

The U.S. Federal Trade Commission has officially launched an investigation into Anthropic and OpenAI, focusing on the actual harm caused to consumers by AI safety incidents.

According to Axios, citing internal sources, the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has issued civil investigative demands (CIDs) to Anthropic and OpenAI, launching a formal investigation into multiple security incidents involving AI models—such as unauthorized access to websites and government systems during testing phases—focusing on whether these incidents have caused substantial harm to U.S. consumers.

YouTube Music launches generative AI music tags: labeling as “AI-created” instead of banning it

Starting in October 2026, YouTube Music will gradually roll out generative AI music content labeling worldwide, continuing the practice already in place on the main YouTube platform for AI-generated videos. This measure does not entail removing or restricting content; rather, it responds to users’ demand for greater transparency regarding the origins of creative works.

Anthropic tells investors quarterly revenue up nearly 50% to $16.8bn ahead of IPO

Anthropic tells investors quarterly revenue up nearly 50% to $16.8bn ahead of IPO The phrase "told investors" appears four times in this FT article, which reports on Anthropic's day of hosting investors on Wednesday. Lots of details in here from "people with knowledge of the matter". Key things I learned from the article: Q1 revenue (Jan/Feb/Mar) was "about $4.8bn" Q2 (Apr/May/Jun) was $11.5bn Q3 (Jul/Aug/Sep) was $16.8bn In Q3: $1.70 in revenue for every $1 spent on "computing power" Adjusted operating margins (excluding stock-based compensation) were 11% This point about distillation is worth quoting in full (highlight mine): The start-up has also clamped down on “distillation” — a controversial practice whereby rival AI labs train their models on the outputs of more advanced ones. Mistral releases its first time-series foundation model, Timestral: available in four variants ranging from 5 million to 209 million parameters, runnable entirely on CPU and ready to use out of the box.

Mistral AI has officially launched Timestral—the company’s first time-series foundation model (TSFM)—available in four parameter sizes: 5M, 28M, 123M, and 209M. It supports multivariate probabilistic forecasting, covariate-aware modeling, and long-context modeling. On the three major public benchmarks—GIFT-Eval, TIME, and fev-bench—Timestral achieves state-of-the-art zero-shot performance across the board; its largest model, with just 209 million parameters, tops all three leaderboards, while inference requires no GPU and can run on a standard server CPU with millisecond-level latency.

LaTeX renderer

Tool: LaTeX renderer Inspired by Paul Ford and Aboard Foundary's new web app Tiny Little Office, which provides a suite of web app content editors (a Word Processor, Outliner, Presentation Builder, Spreadsheet, Calculator, Drawing Tool, Diagram Maker, Animator, Calendar, and Trip Planner). Tiny Little Office's signature trick is to store all of the document data in the #fragment section of the URL, so every document created using it becomes a bookmarkable and shareable link. It also has an llms.txt file telling agents how to construct URLs that will render as documents. Claude used that file to generate this link to a deck that explains how the URL format works: Tiny Little Office inspired me to have Claude Code (Opus 5.5 Extra) build a similar tool that works with LaTeX. Here's the sequen

Crossing the Tipping Point: OpenAI, Anthropic, and Financial Institutions Collaborate to Build a Secure Framework for Controllable Autonomous AI Agents

At the AI Engineer New York Conference, organizations including OpenAI, Anthropic, Two Sigma, and Bloomberg jointly explored pathways to balance autonomy and safety in AI agents within the financial sector, emphasizing that “trustworthy autonomy” can be achieved through layered controls, identity and access management, sandbox-based approvals, traceability, and external determinism mechanisms—rather than simply restricting capabilities.

Tree Appreciator

Tool: Tree Appreciator Another game experiment with Claude. This one used the default Claude iPhone app (chat mode, not Claude Code mode), where I prompted Claude Opus 5.5 Max with: Build a three js game called "Tree appreciator" - it shows you two algorithmically generated trees and the game mechanics is about appreciating the differences between them. Think hard about how to make sure it is both fun and beautiful. Somewhat embarrassingly given my recent talk, I've found that telling Opus 5.5 "make sure it is fun" works uncomfortably well. In this case Claude crunched for 3 hours and 7 minutes before retuning a cosy little spot-the-difference game with music and animation and achievements that's quite compelling to play. AI is mass decompiling games. That's both awesome and scary.

AI is mass decompiling games. That's both awesome and scary. Indie game developer Popcar talks about the recent wave of AI-powered decompilation of existing games, enabling weird mashups between existing games, and producing a boom in game preservation projects to get old games working on new hardware (often in a browser using WebAssembly). I like how this piece captures both the positives and the negatives of this new development: Most people already realized the scary part by now. If AI can decompile games and software, then the entire tech industry is about to explode. Anybody can decompile other software and use it any way they'd like, and nobody can stop them. Companies can steal from competitors. Your paid game or app can be open-sourced against your will. This isn't exclusive to old
