AI’s promise to boost efficiency has not been fulfilled: Over half of managers say employee performance evaluations have become more difficult.
A Nielsen survey of 1,700 executives across seven countries found that more than 50% of managers believe AI tools make it difficult to trace employees’ work outputs, thereby increasing the complexity of performance evaluations. Meanwhile, 78% have adjusted their evaluation criteria to place greater emphasis on prompt‑engineering skills and AI‑assisted judgment; however, 46% of managers are using AI to support decision‑making, raising concerns about fairness and bias.
