Anthropic is using AI to build more powerful AI. And it appears to be working remarkably well, with the company's models improving roughly twice as quickly as a year ago, with little indication of slowing down. That's according to a new report published Thursday by the AI safety research organization METR, following an 11-week investigation […]
As we built Amazon Quick, its agents grew from answering questions to taking actions, and the same primitives kept getting rebuilt under different names. This post shares the taxonomy we converged on — triggers, agents, capabilities, and learned context — found by decomposing agentic work into four plain questions: When, What, Who, and How.
Zyphra released ZYFA, open-source FP8 and BF16 prefill attention kernels for AMD Instinct MI355X. On real model activations, its FP8 kernels run 1.16-1.76x faster than AMD’s AITER, with 62-78% lower error at head dimension 128. arXiv:2611.07103v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: A challenge to Weight Space Learning as it expands from task specific and vision models to Large Language Models (LLMs) is the absence of a well curated and analyzed LLM population. To address this, we train such a model zoo for application to Weight Space Generation by systematically varying the data mixture composition between web text, books, mathematics, coding, and French across populations of 51M, 124M, and 355M parameter GPT-2 Models, each tier with count N = 100. We analyze these populations by cosine similarity, functional diversity, Leave-One-Mixture-Out modeling, and variance decomposition. We show that the zoo contains diverse models whose variation is structured by training mixture composition. We embed the training mixture composition to condition a Flow Matching model of complete pretrained LLM weights in Gram-PCA compressed weight space. By demonstrating zero-shot generalization to held out mixtures, measuring Continuous Ranked Probability Score skill, as well as finding minimal changes in downstream test-set perplexity and general capability benchmark scores, we show that our generator generalizes on the simplex of data mixtures to produce models that perform similarly to those in the zoo ex nihilo. Finally, we produce all source code and artifacts to support the continued expansion of Weight Space Learning and Generation into the LLM domain.
arXiv:2611.07132v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: We present an automated method for auditing text-to-image generators for representational bias against ground-truth demographic benchmarks. Our approach adapts the racial proxy variables used in U.S. antidiscrimination law to provide a fine-grained comparative analysis of variations in racial representation in generated images. We classify each generated image by race and then compare the model's distribution to publicly available demographic benchmark data to identify patterns of over- and under-representation. We also measure skin tone using CIELAB values and calculate cosine similarity amongst groups of images in order to capture biases that don't show up in demographic comparisons such as differences in image quality across races and skin tones. We report on experiments testing three models (Imagen 4 Fast, Stable Diffusion 3.5 Large Turbo, and Flux Schnell) using three categories of proxies (geographic, occupational, and surname) and 50 variants within each category. We find notable variation across the models as well as by proxy category. For example, Imagen 4 Fast overrepresents white classified images more than the other models tested and produces images with lighter, more homogeneous skin tones. Imagen 4 Fast also had the largest representational disparity for Black demographics among surname and geographical prompts. Stable Diffusion 3.5 Large Turbo produces results that overall diverge most from census data but yield the most diverse range of skin tones. Our method yields a generalizable and legally-grounded auditing tool that surfaces detailed information about model outputs without relying on implicit normative definitions of fairness.
arXiv:2611.07301v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: Reinforcement learning has become an effective approach for improving video generation, but its success depends heavily on reliable reward models. Existing methods either map videos directly to opaque scalar scores or generate free-form rationales that are not explicitly optimized as the basis of the final judgment. We propose ArtiVidRM, a verifiable, artifact-as-rubrics video reward model that follows an observe-then-score paradigm. It first identifies visible generation artifacts and organizes them into a structured artifact list, then uses these artifacts as explicit rubrics for quality assessment. This intermediate representation grounds each score in concrete video-level evidence, making the reward more interpretable and informative for optimization. We further introduce a multi-reward reinforcement learning strategy to jointly optimize artifact prediction and quality assessment. The reward decomposes into complementary objectives that evaluate artifact prediction quality, including semantic coverage and prediction efficiency, together with a pairwise preference objective that supervises quality ranking through score differences. By jointly optimizing the intermediate artifact representation and the downstream preference prediction, the model learns to produce informative artifact lists while improving the accuracy of video quality assessment. Experiments show that ArtiVidRM achieves state-of-the-art performance on video preference benchmarks, provides effective signals for video diffusion optimization, and enables artifact-guided refinement of closed-source video generators.
A fix was implemented to verify the combined K+V f16 scratch size in the Flash Attention dequantization path for Vulkan, addressing issue #30048.
The latest update to llama.cpp introduces reference-counted checkpoints instead of deep-copies, reducing memory overhead and improving efficiency. This change adapts the slot save/restore checkpoint mechanism to shared_ptr checkpoint lists and common_state_data buffers, with contributions from multiple developers and AI assistants.
The latest update to llama.cpp (v1.2140) adds support for the `truncate=false` parameter in YaRN, enabling more accurate frequency interpolation for models like gpt-oss and certain PLaMo-3 variants by preserving non-integer interval boundaries. The change includes updates to GGML operations and CPU backend handling, with CUDA backend support, new tests, and refactoring of RoPE helpers into internal headers. Default behavior remains `truncate=true` for backward compatibility.
The update introduces optimized Metal kernel usage for matrix multiplication with K values between 32 and 64, and adds a new kernel for BF16 x BF16 matrix multiplication, improving performance on Apple Silicon devices.
A recent update to llama.cpp addresses a critical issue by rejecting non-object session updates in the server, preventing malformed realtime session data from causing uncaught exceptions and server termination. The release includes binaries for multiple platforms including macOS, Linux, Windows, Android, and iOS, with support for various backends like CUDA, Vulkan, ROCm, OpenVINO, and SYCL.
The update addresses an issue in llama.cpp where the number of GPU layers was incorrectly calculated by not accounting for skipped NextN layers, leading to improper layer distribution between CPU and GPU. The fix ensures that skipped NextN layers are included in the n_gpu_layers count and properly assigned during model loading, resolving a bug where layer 0 remained on the CPU despite offloading all other layers.
The latest release of llama.cpp (b12135) introduces support for MEAN operations in WebGPU, enhancing performance and functionality across multiple platforms including macOS, Linux, Windows, Android, and iOS. The release includes precompiled binaries for various architectures and backends such as CUDA, Vulkan, ROCm, OpenVINO, SYCL, and zDNN, with specific builds for Apple Silicon, Snapdragon devices, and openEuler systems. Some features remain disabled or are under development.
The latest release of llama.cpp, version b12132, includes the removal of u8path() in favor of generic_string(), along with updated binaries for multiple platforms including macOS, Linux, Windows, Android, and openEuler, supporting various backends like CUDA, Vulkan, ROCm, OpenVINO, and SYCL.
The update removes the u8path() function and replaces it with generic_string() in the server component, as part of a broader effort to streamline and standardize string handling across platforms.
