This scratches an itch I experience most months. When you get a "super handy QR Code" from a service, like Asos, Vinted and others that means you have to physically go to a post office to post your parcel. About ten years ago this was revolutionary convenience, but now it's a frustration. If you're like me you use Royal Mail's collection service to ship most of your parcels/returns from home, and post offices are open for ridiculously narrow times of day these days. Royal Mail don't provide an online facility to create a label from these in-person QR codes, so I built one instead.Behold, Citizen - Prince of Post! https://princeofpost.comI had some fun designing this, and it's something that I'll genuinely use all the time, so I thought I'd share it for others with this problem too. I couldn't find any prior art, but if you want to ruin my day please do tell me about anywhere that does this already :-) Comments URL: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=50406466 Points: 1 # Comments: 0
A fully client side, fast DNS debug tool. Queries DNS via DoH resolvers and analyzes DNSSEC configs (inspired by DNSViz), mail records (MX, SRF, DKIM, DMARC, etc), SRC, HTTPS records and runs multiple compliance checks. I built Coldframe, a honeypot that pretends to be a supermarket refrigeration controller. Inspired by the events on industrial fridge installations in the past weeks, I wanted to see what people would try against a convincing fake.To learn more about this I built a honeypot that resembled perfectly the Danfoss AK-SM 800A and Dixell XWEB interfaces. Both of them are recognized on Shodan as real ones (an not as honeypots). It’s one Python file using only the standard library, and it builds on eppser/danfoss-ak-sm-decoy and public research by Synacktiv, Claroty and Ironhackers.Things that were fun to get right:- Matching real units. I used Shodan records of real devices to match header order, page titles, certificate fields and TLS versions. The Danfoss persona sends nginx headers in the same order as a real AK-SM 800A. The Dixell persona sends no Server header and pads its page to exactly 8,202 bytes.- Recognising exploit attempts. It recognises CVE-2025-41450, the Danfoss “code of the day” login bypass, and records whether the submitted code is correct for today. It also tags attempts targeting three other Danfoss CVEs and the XWEB vulnerabilities.- Letting them in. Default logins open a fake store dashboard with defrost buttons, so you see the second move, not just the first. Nothing behind it is real. Two instances have been live for a day. So far they’ve only seen generic scanners and Shodan’s crawler, which is called refrigerator.census.shodan.io.Feedback welcome, especially from anyone who has seen these devices in the field! An approach of taking many photos to enhance one final image is a technique called "stacking". Stacking alone doesn't account for everything so this is a take that helps get better alignment of images, allows comparisons, and drop bad images that dont match. Its not super resolution but it feels like when you look at it. it reduces the noise and makes it look more organic shot with less expensive hardware. enjoy! Tandem is an open-source sync engine and client-side database that plugs into your existing infrastructure. Add the Tandem library to sync data in real time across your clients and server, without deploying any new services.I started work on Tandem 6 years ago as a side project. I was frustrated by the sync engine landscape at the time, thinking I could build a better DX and require less lock-in. Even now, sync engine companies and “full-stack databases” need you to migrate to their database or provision a separate service with auth, networking, etc. This makes them annoying to maintain and also harder to adopt incrementally.Tandem is designed to just be embedded into your existing frontend and backend code. You define a schema, set up a database adapter (any SQL-like database is supported), add the new sync endpoint to your existing API, and then you're good to go.Tandem uses DST (Deterministic Simulation Testing) on every PR and nightly to ensure correctness. Our DST system Gatekeeper lets us model not only storage and network failures, but also race conditions, by gating each call between client/server/other services independently.Tandem currently supports any React-based frontend, any serverful backend (like Cloudflare Durable Objects), and any SQL-like database. New adapters are easy to build, and PRs and issues are appreciated!Open-source and MIT licensed: https://github.com/tanishqkancharla/tandem Comments URL: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=50398763 Points: 1 # Comments: 0

I built it to replace the repetitive workflows of moving tabs and copying indicators across many tools and tabs for every investigation. You use your own API keys, and functions like decoding, identifying commands, and man pages all run locally with no LLM.Please let me know what you think, you can try it here right now. More information about it can be found here: ceplang.org/start.htmlAs well as a short demo here: https://youtu.be/bzGGigpeiXg Comments URL: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=50391790 Points: 1 # Comments: 0
Shanghai’s Fourier Intelligence built a custom humanoid for Meta’s internal research in months. The company already has a rehab business, modest humanoid shipments, and a disclosed pre-money valuation of about 8 billion yuan. A marquee partner tests its engineering—it does not yet prove the equity story.

Here is Cerea, a self-hostable, open-source (Apache 2.0) chat+agent frontend for LLMs. It works alone with any OpenAI-compatible inference provider, but it's way better when coupled with the model gateway I'm also developing, Pystino (https://github.com/paoloviviani/Pystino).I came to this after struggling to find a hosted chat interface that was truly open source, that I really enjoyed to use, and that was simple enough to be shared and used by family. In particular, I was looking for something that could provide the smooth and integrated user experience of commercial products for the tasks needed by family (e.g., document editing, form filling, notes and knowledge management), but backed by open models hosted wherever I decide. Then it became richer, now supporting: remote coding agents (wrapping Opencode), delegation and coordination between agents, integration between chat/projects and code agents (this one to me is a pain point for Claude, which I use at work), projects, RAG, rich artifacts support, schedules, and more. You can try it yourself, either cloning the full repo and head to Cerea/kit, or just the deploy kit with a script (https://github.com/paoloviviani/Cerea#quick-start).It's just a docker compose with a ./configure script that helps to generate a sensible .env for the specific scenario. It works in the browser and as a PWA on mobile.I hope you'll enjoy, feel free to reach out for questions. Comments URL: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=50384502 Points: 1 # Comments: 0
